"The natural world is the larger sacred community to which we belong. To be alienated from this community is to become destitute in all that makes us human. To damage this community is to diminish our own existence"
The GSFC University Campus is an extraordinary opportunity to become a truly sustainable community and to showcase India's first Net Zero Energy, Water, Waste and Emission Campus as the new benchmark for the Asia Region.
The campus sits amidst the forest. Outdoors is only 'a doorway away'. Internal courtyard merges with the immediate landscape which connects to the forest. Butterflies, birds, flora and fauna add value to the environment for an alternative learning and interaction space for faculty and students.
All buildings face the north direction providing natural diffused daylights; the east and west faces are minimal and insulated to protect the inside spaces from the summer sun.
The campus shall be designed in alignment with the framework of GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment). The project shall reduce its detrimental impact on the surroundings to the minimum and attempt to become self-sufficient in aspects like energy, water etc to achieve the highest rating. The project shall set exemplary standard in sustainability: economic, environmental and social.
The GSFC campus through its conscious and green design has the unique opportunity to become a one-of-its-kind model sustainable community that has achieved equity through fair sharing of the limited natural resources not just among the current generation but also with the future generations.
